Laura Gant Eslick
Owner | Platinum Stylist
Laura Gant Eslick, owner and founder of Halcyon Salon, was born in Charlotte and raised in Shelby, North Carolina. She began her journey in beauty at Isothermal Community College, where she completed the Associate of Arts in Cosmetology program—then ranked among the top three in the state.
After three years of working in Shelby, Laura moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where she joined Chovine Salon in the heart of downtown. During her time there, she also became an educator for Paul Mitchell, an experience that deepened her love for the industry and the power of continued education. Charleston shaped her vision, pushing her to deliver excellence and creativity with every guest she served.
After four impactful years in Charleston, Laura felt called back to the Charlotte area, working in the Lake Norman region for three more years. But ultimately, it was home—Shelby—that pulled at her heart. In 2008, she and her husband, Donald, returned, and by 2010, Halcyon Salon was born.
In 2024, Laura and Donald were able to purchase the 120 something -year-old building that had been Halcyon’s home since 2019. Since then, the salon has grown into a cornerstone of the community. Laura remains deeply involved with organizations like the Junior Charity League of Shelby and the Uptown Shelby Association, always looking for ways Halcyon can give back.
Ed Jesse
Gold Stylist
Ed Jesse is a passionate and detail-oriented stylist who brings a grounded, thoughtful energy to the salon floor. With a deep appreciation for both the art and structure of hair, Ed is dedicated to creating looks that are not only polished but also tailored to each guest’s lifestyle and personality.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Ed relocated to North Carolina in 2017. He brings over 25 years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist. His personality, passion and versatility shine through in everything he does. Ed specializes in everything from the latest color techniques and precision men’s cuts to timeless perms.
Whether you’re coming in for a transformation or a simple refresh, Ed is here to make sure you leave feeling confident, empowered, and authentically yourself.
When not behind the chair, Ed enjoys spending time with his dogs and working in his yard.

Maegan Webb
Silver Stylist
Maegan enjoys working with a variety of hair types and textures and has a particular love for men’s cuts, long layers, blonding services, and extensions.

Guests appreciate Maegan’s gentle approach, listening ear, and ability to create looks that are both flattering and easy to maintain. Outside of the salon, Maegan cherishes time with family, enjoys attending church, and loves making memories with she and her Husband, Micheal’s, 3 beautiful daughters.
Dakota Bell

Dakota brings warmth, creativity, and a passion for connection to every guest who sits in their chair. With a strong eye for detail and a love for transformation, Dakota specializes in dimensional color, blonding, and lived-in styles that are both effortless and elevated.

Whether it’s a bold new look or a subtle refresh, Dakota approaches every service with intention, care, and artistry.

Known for their calm presence and attentive listening, Dakota creates an experience that feels more like catching up with a friend than a typical salon visit. They value being part of a team that celebrates growth, creativity, and sustainability in the beauty industry.
Outside the salon, Dakota enjoys hiking, crocheting, and anything having to do with nature.
Alyssa Taylor
Esthetician
Alyssa is a Cleveland county native and licensed esthetician whose passion for skin health shines through every treatment she offers. She brings a calm, content but concise personality to the Halcyon family. As a graduate of Cleveland Community College, Alyssa built a comprehensive skill set grounded in both clinical protocols and holistic skincare philosophies, ensuring a balance of science and self-care in every session; which falls right in line with Halcyon’s values.
She brings her specialized expertise in advanced facials including microneedling, red light therapy and dermaplaning. Alyssa takes the time to explain each step of your treatment to address your unique concerns and deliver radiant, long-term results, plus sharing personalized tips and all the support you need for maintaining a glowing complexion between visits.
When she’s not in the treatment room, you’ll likely find her reading, exploring a scenic hiking trail, experimenting with fresh recipes in the kitchen, or unwinding with loved ones at home—activities that fuel her creativity and reinforce her belief that true beauty begins from within.
